Our next live show is this Thursday! It’s at 7pm at Caveat NYC. I promise we’ll have you home in time to catch the Trump-Biden debate; and I promise this will be more fun. Join me, Avery Trufelman, Dan Rosen and of course house band Eli Bolin. Tickets available now. Hope to see you there!
So, how does this newsletter work? Each newsletter you’ll see one reader’s answer to the previous question. Then you’ll see the question they have for the list, which you can respond to if you’d like. Or you can just read and enjoy.
Previous ask:
What’s it take for you to actually get work done? What’s your secret?
Talia answers:
I’ve tried a dozen different to-do apps and productivity gadgets, but for me nothing beats a simple list written down on paper. But here are a couple things I do that help me have that list feel managable:
Re-write the list every day, prioritizing the hard/unpleasant stuff first, but also remembering that you’re likely only going to get 1-3 big things done in a day. The other 3-5 tasks on your list should be much simpler. So ask hard questions about what really is a priority, every morning.
Batch similar tasks together. Once you’re in a particular kind of brain space, it’s easier to cruise through.
My cleverest trick: Even if you I something that isn’t on my list, I still write it down and then immediately cross it off. That feeling of accomplishment is the best motivator to keep going I’ve ever found.
Talia asks:
When was the last time you cried from laughing?
If you’d like to answer this question, you can simply hit reply to this email and write it in. Be sure to also include a question that you’d like to submit next. And tell us a story — your answer will be the bulk of the next newsletter. We will only use your first name, but if you wish to answer anonymously, let us know. Or, leave a comment.
Thanks to everyone who responded. See you next week. Or at Thursday’s show!
